Original fez from the 1930s-40s of the Shriners Almas Masonic Organization.
Vintage fez hat of the Freemason lodge Souls of the AlmasShriner in Los Angeles. This vintage Almas Shriner fez is made of burgundy felt wool with gold embroidery, featuring a sword, moon, star, and the Egyptian Masonic sign, with a very long black tassel. It comes from a member of the Washington temple. Shriners are a group of people who help children and those in need for free.
Shriners International, formally known as the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AAONMS), is an American Masonic society founded in 1872 in New York. This organization is an auxiliary body of Freemasonry, and only men who have achieved the degree of Master Mason can become members.
Almas is the name of the Shriner temple in Washington D.C., established on June 14, 1886. The Almas Temple is a Masonic building located at 1315 K Street NW in Washington D.C., opposite Franklin Square. This historic structure was built in 1929 by Allen H. Potts, who was a member of the temple, and it stands out for its Moorish architectural style with an elaborate multicolored terracotta facade.
