Description from the seller

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid.

16th century Dutch double-sided wooden comb made of boxwood (buxushout). The comb has a side with wide teeth and the other with very fine teeth, making it useful for different purposes.

Such combs served both practical grooming and hygienic purposes, often carried as personal items in daily medieval life. A well-preserved and tactile example of medieval domestic craftsmanship.

The boxwood has a very fine grain which makes it very suitable for making small tools like spoons, combs and etchings.

Length: ± 86,8 mm
Width: ± 73,3 mm

Very good and stable condition, professionally preserved. Very rare in this complete condition. Signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Certificate of Authenticity available upon request (pdf-format).
