Description from the seller
Extraordinary sculpture made of solid wood.
Rich in exceptional details and very noble in touch!
By artist Ros Khavro.
DIMENSIONS
height: 60cm, length: 29cm, width: 22cm
Total weight: 12kg
FORM
Carved with a chainsaw from a single piece of Solid Ash Wood*, hand finished. Tanned with fire (yakisugi**), stained with a natural black stain, and waxed with natural wax.
WOOD
Ash wood is an ideal material for the production of extraordinary objects. It has a unique, very expressive grain. It is hard, resistant to use, and extremely flexible.
Method
Yakisugi (charred cedar) is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. By slightly charring the surface of the wood without burning the entire piece, the wood becomes waterproof through carbonization and is therefore more durable. It also protects against insects and makes the wood fire-resistant.
