A very fine antique 4/4 violin, labeled Sanctus Seraphin Utinensis fecit Venetiis 1750. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears but no visible cracks, good rosewood set up, old JE Jacque bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of strongly flamed maple. Softly flamed maple sides, neck and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 602 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 111 mm; lower bouts: 205 mm. Full size. The sound is very sweet, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
