Sir John “Jackie” Stewart is a former Formula One racing driver from Scotland. Nicknamed the 'Flying Scot', he competed in Formula One between 1965 and 1973, winning three World Championships, and twice finishing as runner-up over those nine seasons. He is regarded by many as one of the greatest drivers in the history of the sport. Some consider him even the greatest ever! He retired from the sport in 1973 after his good friend and Tyrrell team-mate François Cevert was killed in practice at Watkins Glen.

He is the last surviving Formula One World Champion from the 1960s. Together with his son Paul, he also owned the Formula One racing team: Stewart Grand Prix. Stewart was also instrumental in improving the safety of motor racing, campaigning for better medical facilities and track improvements at motor racing circuits.
