Description
Exceptional antique box made of 900 silver, signed by the renowned goldsmith F. Chiappe, belonging to a prominent family of silversmiths active between the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Argentina and Italy. Signed pieces by Chiappe are rare and highly valued in the Rioplatense and European collector markets.
The box features an elaborately hand-hammered surface with floral decoration, demonstrating a very fine technical level and high-quality craftsmanship. Its pentagonal design is unusual and adds uniqueness to the piece.
The lid is topped with a polished green cabochon, possibly nephrite jade, firmly set.
The interior retains its original finish in vermeil (silver plated with gold), characteristic of luxury objects from the era and in excellent condition.
