Attributed to Tadeusz Franz Beutlich, the structural woven textile 'Ćma' from Poland (Łódź), circa 1970–1980, made from sisal, jute and plant fibres with a wooden frame, measuring 135 × 125 cm in brown and cream tones, and in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Tadeusz Franz Beutlich (attributed to) – Structural fabric 'Ćma' – Poland, c. 1970–1980
Material: sisal, jute, plant fibers, wood.
Dimensions: 135 × 125 cm
Very good
Striking relief fabric with an organic, almost sculptural form, depicting a stylized moth. Made from natural plant fibers – sisal, jute, and seagrass – in a warm palette of beiges, browns, and amber tones.
The work represents a type of woven sculpture, where the structure and texture of the material create a spatial, expressive effect. It is mounted on a wooden slat with a string tensioning system characteristic of experimental workshops of the second half of the 20th century.
Form, choice of materials, and method of shaping space indicate a strong affinity with the style of Tadeusz Franz Beutlich (1922–2011) – a Polish-British artist and educator, pioneer of fiber art and textile sculpture, and professor at Goldsmiths College in London.
Possible attribution: in the circle of Tadeusz F. Beutlich, the 1970s–1990s.
Without signature or label.
Kept in very good condition, without damages or discoloration.
An artwork with high decorative and collectible qualities, fitting into the tradition of European artistic textiles of the second half of the 20th century.
