Random number of 100 copies.
Karl Lagasse, born on April 4, 1981, in Paris, is a French artist.
He is the creator of the sculpture One Dollar, as well as the trophy for the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.
Artistic career
Karl Lagasse's career began in 1996 with the sale of his first work in Antwerp, when he was 15 years old.
A few years later, in 2003, he prepared his first exhibition in Paris, where he displayed his works that combined collage and painting, as suggested by Yvaral Vasarely, son of the Hungarian visual artist Victor Vasarely, when they met in 1998.
He started sculpting in 2004 and was inspired by Les Nuits Blanches.
Then he began to find his own style and started the 'Buildings' series, 'totem' works made from different materials.
In the same year, he left Paris to settle in Normandy. In 2006, Isy Brachot (famous gallery in Brussels dedicated an exhibition to him).
A single painting cannot find a taker.
Karl Lagasse then offers it to a fan who cannot afford it.
In 2008, he returned to Paris to exhibit at Espace Pierre Cardin.
Paintings, sculptures, and photographs are displayed. A film about the creation of the works is also screened.
2009, the year of creation of one of the artist's most emblematic works, the One Dollar.
A work born out of admiration for the United States but also symbolizing what can be achieved with just one dollar; 'Making art with $1'.
In 2010, he was chosen to represent the municipality of Deauville (Normandy) at the world equestrian championship 'Horsemania' held in Lexington (United States), a sister city of the Normandy seaside resort, for which he created a sculpture.
Following the success of 'One Dollar,' which has achieved international acclaim, it presents another work that will also become iconic, 'Cryptogram One.'
It was at the 2011 Art Monaco fair when the public discovered her.
To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, he produced a 'Building' measuring 2.80 meters by 60 centimeters wide, made of cement, wood, glass, and photographs in collaboration with Corbis, and displayed it at the Carlton Cinema Club.
Artists present at the festival are invited to sign the work and leave a message on it.
It's what José García, Michel Hazanavicius, Bérénice Bejo, Gad Elmaleh, but also Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey, and Zac Efron do.
