Description from the seller
“Reflected Meadow” is a visual artwork by Raquel Pellicano that presents a quiet, surreal encounter between landscape and self. At the centre of a wild field of small flowers, an ornate oval mirror stands alone, its surface clouded and aged. Rather than offering a clear reflection, it absorbs the surrounding mist and vegetation, blending reality and illusion into a single, uncertain image.
The monochrome palette enhances the sense of timelessness. The flowers appear delicate and persistent, while the distant trees fade softly into fog. The mirror becomes a threshold, not revealing what stands before it, but suggesting what lies beyond sight.
Artist’s Statement
This piece explores reflection as an emotional and symbolic act rather than a literal one. I was interested in a mirror that does not return an image, but instead withholds it. By placing the mirror within a natural landscape, the work questions where memory, identity and perception truly reside.
The absence of a visible reflection invites inward attention. The viewer is encouraged to project their own presence into the scene, to consider how much of what we see is shaped by expectation and memory. The image proposes reflection not as confirmation, but as contemplation.

About the Artist
Raquel Pellicano is a Lisbon-based photographer and visual artist whose practice explores atmosphere, symbolism and emotional space. Working with photography and digital visual processes, she constructs images that blur the boundary between external landscape and internal state.
Her work often centres on quiet visual narratives where objects, nature and absence operate as carriers of meaning, inviting slow looking and personal interpretation.
