Description from the seller
The painting is an oil on canvas, dating from the mid-20th century, bearing a signature that reads 'A.Privitera.'
Antonio Privitera, an Italian painter of the twentieth century, is known for his landscape works inspired by the coastlines and rocky elevations of the Mediterranean. His painting, characterized by bold brushwork and a luminous color palette, captures immediate and sincere natural atmospheres.
The canvas depicts a Mediterranean coast scene observed from an elevated point, where a jagged cliff dominates the open view of the sea. In the foreground, dark rocks and wild plants, bushes with yellow and orange blooms, and grasses swayed by the wind are rendered with lively, textured brushstrokes, capturing the roughness of the terrain and the intense light of the place. The horizon line then opens onto a wide stretch of blue sea, fading into the distance towards a barely suggested coast, beneath a clear sky with soft, luminous clouds.
The work, balanced in composition and rich in atmospheric vibrations, well represents Privitera's sensitivity to coastal landscapes and his ability to capture the natural harmony between rock, vegetation, and sea.
The frame is to be considered a courteous gift with the painting.
Dimensions with frame 50x70cm, dimensions without frame 30x50cm.
Insured and tracked shipping.
