Small World, 1st Ed. Vintage, a hardcover English-language photography book of 92 pages, signed by Martin Parr on the title page and published by Dewi Lewis Publishing in 1995.
Description from the seller
Signed copy on the title page by Martin Parr (1952 – 2025), of the vintage original edition of Small World (currently apparently unique and unavailable signed copies of this first edition on the internet). 92 pages and 68 full-page color photographs, with text in English by Simon Winchester. Very beautiful imitation cloth hardcover with a illustrated dust jacket.
Through Magnum, Martin Parr received numerous commissions that enrich his body of work. Small World, his album on theme parks and tourist destinations of the global industry, allows us to explore the Acropolis in Greece, Disneyland Paris (Marne-la-Vallée), Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Machu Picchu (Peru), Hua Hin (Thailand), Venice, Las Vegas, Benidorm (Spain), the pyramids of Giza (Egypt), and Acapulco. The world is covered with an unending flow of tourists that Martin Parr tracks to highlight the gap between myth and reality. His lens captures a deluge of caps, backpacks, cameras, selfie sticks, inflatable rings, and ultra-ugly souvenir shops.
Copy in excellent condition with slight wear to the dust jacket. A book from my personal collection, kept with the utmost care. Shipping is protected with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international postal tracking. In case of multiple purchases, group shipping is possible with a refund of any excess postal fees paid via Paypal.
