Gandhara - Slate Statue - 85 cm

Approximately 200-300 AD. Very interesting Gandhara slate Buddha, standing on a pedestal with columns and two worshippers in between. The Buddha wears a voluminous monastic robe with beautifully flowing folds. His hair is gathered into a topknot with fine curls. Remarkable facial features, elongated earlobes. The surface on the back is flat, indicating that the figure was attached to another surface and not free-standing. Size: L: 850 mm / W: 320 mm; 40 kg. Good condition.
