Description from the seller
This is an original Yugoslav theatrical poster for King Kong (1976), the Dino De Laurentiis big-budget remake directed by John Guillermin and starring Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin.
Printed by Zagreb Film (ZF), this poster features a distinctive Yugoslav design variation, different from the U.S. and European editions.
Artwork & Design
The artwork shows King Kong standing atop the World Trade Center twin towers, gripping a jet in one hand and holding Jessica Lange in the other — an iconic image from the film’s promotional campaign.
Unlike many international posters, the Yugoslav edition uses:
bold red localised title “King Kong”
cast names transliterated into Croatian (DŽEF BRIDŽIS, DŽESIKA LENDŽ, ČARLS GRODIN)
clean black credit block
ZF logo and Paramount logo at bottom
The colour quality and composition give it a very collectible retro aesthetic.
Authenticity
This is a genuine Yugoslav cinema poster, not a modern reproduction.
Authenticity indicators:
ZF (Zagreb Film) printing mark
localised credits and typography
period-correct offset printing on thin poster stock
original fold lines (YU posters were almost always distributed folded)
approx. 70×50 cm, the standard Yugoslav format
Condition
Excellent (folded as issued).
Bright colours, no major fading
Clean paper surface
Light fold wear only
No tears, no pinholes, no tape marks
For a poster nearly 50 years old, the preservation is exceptional.
Collectability
The 1976 King Kong remake has a strong cult following, and Yugoslav posters have become increasingly sought after due to their unique artwork and lower print-run compared with Western markets.
Clean examples like this are not common.
Highly desirable for collectors of:
Monster & kaiju cinema
1970s Hollywood epics
Yugoslav poster art
Jessica Lange / Jeff Bridges memorabilia
Shipping
Will be shipped carefully folded, secured between rigid cardboard sheets, with tracking.
