China, model Pechino type (also known as 90 lines), hand-knotted with a cotton warp and wool pile, measuring 276 cm by 183 cm and dating from the mid-20th century.
Description from the seller
High-end Chinese rug, produced between 1960 and 1990, known as 'Pechino type' or '90 lines' for its standard knot density (approximately 140,000 knots per square meter).
It features a dense and richly detailed floral design, devoid of empty spaces. The central motif is dominated by a large, highly elaborate circular medallion, intertwined with peonies, lotus flowers, and other floral elements. On its sides, two stylized symbols stand out, referencing the Chinese character 'Shou,' symbolizing longevity. The structure is framed by multiple concentric borders, including a main ivory-colored one with floral patterns and another with a Greek meander.
The color palette is classic: a characteristic dusty green-blue field combines with an ivory border and floral motifs in shades of pink, peach, and yellow.
Hand-embroidered with a cotton warp and white fringes, it is made with high-quality wool, soft and dense. Its distinctive feature is the thick, deeply hand-carved fleece (incised technique), which shapes the contours of the motifs, creating a powerful three-dimensional effect and a refined play of light and shadow.
Excellent condition, impeccable invoice, and strong decorative impact make it a piece of great value and prestige.
