John Wayne - McLintock! - 1960s

This is an original Yugoslav theatrical poster for McLintock! (1963), released locally under the title “Veliki Mek Lintok.” Starring the legendary John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, this poster was printed by Makedonija Film / Beograd, most likely in the late 1960s or early 1970s, and is today considered one of the rarest YU variations for this title. Artwork & Design The Yugoslav design uses a striking combination of: a bold red-yellow background large, playful typography of the local title a humorous central black-and-white photomontage of John Wayne lifting Maureen O’Hara — perfectly capturing the film’s comedic western tone secondary figures dancing and fighting in the lower section, adding a dynamic sense of chaos YU posters from this era were known for their distinct local graphic style, often quite different from U.S. and European editions. This is an excellent example of that unique design tradition. Authenticity This is a genuine vintage cinema-issue poster, not a reproduction. Authentic markers include: localised names (“DŽON VEJN,” “MORIN O’HARA”) credits rendered phonetically in Serbian/Croatian (ENDRJU MEKLAGLEN, JUNA(J)TED ARTISTS) Makedonija Film / Beograd distributor stamp period-correct colour separation and paper stock original fold lines (YU posters were distributed folded) approx. 70×50 cm standard YU format Condition Very Good vintage condition (folds as issued). Clean printing with excellent colour retention Minor fold wear and light handling typical for age No major tears, no tape residue, no writing Small edge imperfections but overall very well preserved Displays beautifully and is highly suitable for framing. Collectability John Wayne posters remain consistently in demand worldwide, and Yugoslav editions are particularly collectible due to their low print runs and unique graphic interpretations. McLintock! posters from Yugoslavia are far scarcer than many other Wayne titles from the period. A desirable piece for collectors of: Westerns John Wayne memorabilia 1960s cinema posters Yugoslav graphic design Shipping Will be shipped carefully folded, protected between rigid cardboard layers, and sent with tracking.
