This model represents EF65-1001, an early-production unit of the EF65 1000-series (PF type),
finished in the iconic Japan National Railways Express Livery (cream and blue).

The EF65 1000-series is widely recognized as the symbol of Japan’s Blue Train era,
serving as dedicated electric locomotives for long-distance limited express sleeper trains.
Unit 1001 is particularly notable for having no frontal “visor” (sunshade)—
