Description from the seller

You are bidding on a very fine old french 4/4 violin, stamped Breton. The instrument is in finest ready to play condition with some tears and wears but no cracks. New ebony set up, new strings and new bridge.
The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of narrow flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original varnish of golden amber color remains in good condition. The whole length of the violin is 589 mm and the back 357 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Don't hesitate to contact me for any questions. Shipping worldwide, insured

Violins and bows described as 'certified' or 'attributed' include images of their certificates and are therefore considered to have a higher degree of documented certainty regarding maker, origin, and age than instruments described only as 'labelled' (violins) or 'stamped' (bows), for which we provide no guarantee of any kind.
