Antique carved wooden frame with gold leaf finish from Italy, dating to 1850–1900 in Lu iigi Filippo/Neoclassical style; external 58 × 43 cm, internal 50 × 35 cm, depth 5 cm, weight 1 kg.
Description from the seller
Antique carved and gilded wooden cornice (Presumed period: 19th century)
Description:
Beautiful antique solid wood frame, finely carved and finished with genuine gold leaf (probably gold leaf, given the presence of the characteristic reddish bolo visible in the worn areas). The design features elegant moldings with an 'X' motif and stylized leaves, suggesting a Louis Philippe or Neoclassical style, highly appreciated in the 19th century.
Conditions:
The object is in good overall condition, with a natural patina of time that enhances its antique charm. Signs of wear are present, including slight gilding chips and small missing parts that do not compromise the structure but attest to its originality and age (as shown in the photos). Ideal for framing mirrors, antique paintings, or vintage prints.
Main Features
Material: carved wood
Technique: Gilding with gold leaf (a guazzo)
Style/Period: Luigi Filippo / Neoclassical (19th Century)
Origin: Italy
Condition: Antique, with natural signs of wear and aging.
