A collection of 5 books of Charles Darwin's Biologische Meesterwerken: 'Goedkoope uitgave van Darwin's werken geïllustreerd'. Very rare and virtually untraceable edition with original paper wrappers. Every book was translated and edited by Dr. T.C. Winkler and Dr. H. Hartogh Heys van Zouteveen and published by gebr. E. & M. Cohen in Arnhem in the late 19th century, presumably around 1890. Contains the following titles: 1. Het ontstaan der soorten door natuurlijke teeltkeus of het bewaard blijven van bevoorrechte rassen in den strijd voor het bestaan. 2&3. Het variëeren der huisdieren en cultuurplanten (part 1 & 2) 4. De afstamming van den mensch en de seksueele teeltkeus (part 2) 5. Het uitdrukken der gemoedsaandoeningen bij den mensch en de dieren. Condition: Various conditions. All with damaged or worn spines. Covers slightly worn. Paper slighly browned. Foxing as usual. The back of the first part of the second book is loose.
