Special British signal lamp with signal key and chest.
Was used by soldiers to signal messages with flashes of light.
With this development one could also signal messages at night and in fog, there that was done at the beginning of the war only with flags.
Created by and as such mentioned on the lamp; "Lamp Electric Signalling Daylight Mark II, 1918 made by Arthur Lyon & Wrench Ltd".
The lamp is missing the lighting inside, but the mirror is present.
The box has a number "63850" and a stamp of the "War Department" in the shape of an arrow. /|\ .. or the "Broad Arrow".
The box has two compartments, one empty and the other needs the lamp.
This last one also has the signal key mounted, that is stamped by the manufacturer with "AL & W Ltd" (= Arthur Lyon & Wrench Ltd), and also dated "1918".
The total size of the box is 24.5 x 24 x 15 cm.
So the set is not entirely complete, but the most important pieces are present and few have survived this war!
