Navarra Pruna relates that, when she tries to remember the moment of his first experience with drawing, he always finds it as if it was something inherent and inseparable from his being. Her imagination, creativity and restlessness arises in her from a very young age.  She confesses that when she attended the school  in San Justo, she was always chosen to make little works of drawing and illustration, and nothing caused greater pleasure in her than drawing, writing, creating and imagining. During those childhood years, her favourite characters were the ones in fairy tales: princes and princesses - at the time this was fashionable- and she dedicated many hours to them.

At the age of 11 she obtained a first national price, summoned by a publishing house specialized in fairy tale illustration. The prize to her great imagination was a sewing machine. It was the post-war era; This was her first success and at the same time her first great disappointment, as the second prize was a bicycle, something she desired so much. This marked her a little, since she still remembers it..

There was another subsequent period, where she drew images of Virgins and Angels, and this led her to work in one of the most important Christian publishing houses of the country - Luis Talleda - and she dedicated herself to this for almost thirty years. Whereas her greatest desire would have been to be able to attend a good school of fine arts and learn a lot, she had to settle for keeping working as a freelancer, and she became a self-taught painter. There were not many resources for her training, and that was a period were a girl could not move freely. It was not possible to follow evening lessons, the arrival time in her house was strict and there was no option for any exception. However, she drew all the time, at any moment. Even when her children were very young she was able to find hours for her vocation: drawing.

She is an excellent draughtswoman who disdains easy things, sterile easy things. When she paints, she feels at the same time the enjoyment and the torture pain that the great masters of painting from other times must have felt. She says she paints for her own satisfaction, due to the intimate joy she feels when difficulties are overcome, due to the pleasure produced by the “torture of painting”, putting all her energy into it. She wasn’t pictorially trained in any school, as she is a completely self-taught painter. In her drawings and pastels, she honours her illustrious surname. Despite not having any close relationship with painter Pedro Pruna, Carmen’s grandfather came from the same Mataró village as this painter’s father. She has always considered herself to be an admirer, disciple and relative of the great painter. There is something in her drawings - as a precedent - from her homonymous and distant relative.

She is one of the draughtswoman who arouse a greater interest nowadays, in a period where very little importance is given to correct, careful drawing, in a period of modernity, extravagance and avant-garde chaos where those who are not able to draw take refuge.
