John Laurance

A fine polychrome decorated ginger jar with lid, attractively finished on both sides, dating mid to late 20th century. 

This is a copy of a 17thC de Paauw jar. The de Paauw factory was founded in 1650, producing very fine wares in tin glaze blue and polychrome palettes. These vases were produced with figural flowers, birds, insects amid imaginative Rococo cartouches and flourishes. 

DAPW marks on the bases . Good condition, no restoration, 

hand painted
size: 45 cm tall with lid x 22 cm diameter 
over 2500 grams
