Serendibite is an extremely rare silicate mineral that was first discovered in 1902 in Sri Lanka by Dunil Palitha Gunasekera and named after Serendib, the old Arabic name for Sri Lanka.
Forbes in 2015 included the serendibite in the ranking of 12 Most Expensive Gemstones In The World estimating it 18000$ for carat this evaluation was made for small stones (0.60ct) , stones as large as this have not been sold.
