Large heavy tooth of the extinct big tooth shark; Carcharocles megalodon. This tooth is no less than 14.1 cm long and 10.9 cm wide with a weight of 356 grams. The tooth comes from the upper jaw. It was surfaced by a friend who is a diver from the Cooper River near Charleston in South Carolina. The tooth comes from the Miocene and is between 15 and 20 million years old.
