Jennifer Marie Capriati is an American former professional tennis player. She currently resides in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Jennifer learned to play tennis at a very early age, as she was taught by her father Stephano. He is currently her coach. When she was younger, she was trained by Chris Evert. She made her professional debut on 5 March 1990, at the age of 13, at the WTA Tour in Boca Raton. She became the youngest player to reach a final (13 years and 11 months).

She defeated 4 seeds on her way to the final, among them world No 10 Helena Suková.

On 9 April 1990 she entered the WTA ranking at No 25. Later that year, she became the youngest semi-finalist ever at the French Open, at the age of 14 and 2 months, losing to Monica Seles.

After his, she entered the WTA top 20. At that year's Wimbledon tournament, she became the youngest seed ever. She was seeded 12th. Jennifer won her first title in Puerto Rico, defeating Zina Garrison in the final and becoming the fourth youngest player ever to win a title. After this, she entered the world's WTA top 10, becoming the youngest female player ever to reach the top 10 at the age 14 years and 235 days. That same year, she played a three-set match against No 1 Steffi Graf, and finished the season at world No 8.

In 1991 she reached her second consecutive Gran Slam semi-final at the age of 15 years and 95 days. She became the youngest semi-finalist ever at Wimbledon, after defeating Martina Navratilova in the quarter-finals. She defeated world No 1 Monica Seles that year, and also defended the title against Sabatini at the U.S. Open. In 1992 she reached 3 Grand Slam quarter-finals. She won the gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics Games, defeating Steffi Graf in the final.


On 15 April 2012, Jennifer was inducted at the Tennis Hall of Fame to honour her great sports career.
