A superb set of maritime brass instruments by Schatz, Germany, comprising a fine Royal Ocean ship's bell clock with electric quartz movement with chimes, together with a Schatz compensated barometer, both in near mint condition. 

Founded in the 1850s, Schatz was the leading manufacturer of classic ship’s instruments, before closing in 1985. 

Both items show fine workmanship and are fully functional. The brass housings are without cracks, dents or major blemishes. The  instruments' lacquer is in excellent condition with only light patina (photos). The doors are secured by scuttle clamps. The facet-cut glass ports are clean and intact. The clock's battery-run quartz movement has mechanical chimes that strike a 4-hour watch sequence with cycles of one-to-eight bells struck at 30-minute intervals. The clock is easily adjusted from the front. Chimes can be temporarily switched off (green switch, photo #13). Before transport, the mechanisms will be stabilized by the screw on the back (turn anti-clockwise on receipt to restart). 

The barometer is calibrated in both millibars and inches (mercury units). There is a fine capillary thermometer (Celsius/Fahrenheit). The barometer may need adjusting after transport, easily done via back access.

A great opportunity to own a set of these fine instruments, for use at home, in the office or on-board ship.
