Wonderful statue of Mary and Child by Alfons Noseda.

Made in the typical style of Flemish earthenware here finished in blue, brown and ochre. Mary and Jesus have halos around their heads. 

What is special about this statue is the dove with the palm branch, a symbol of good news and peace.

The statue is somewhat crackle and shows a touch-up crack from production.

Alfons Noseda, a descendant of Italian immigrants, contributed to the success of the Torhout or Flemish pottery in the first half of the 20th century.
