Composition of a set of shark teeth. This jaw is made up of a composite of sand and glue in which squalicorax teeth were pasted. The aim was to produce an aesthetic representation of how a jaw of the shark could potentially have looked.
Squalicorax is a genus of extinct sharks from the order of the mackerel shark that lived in the Cretaceous. Squalicorax pristodontus with a length of five meters, the largest species.
Squalicorax has rows of teeth in its jaws as live sharks, as can be seen in this fossil. A shark produces and sheds thousands of teeth during its lifetime.
Fossils of this shark have been found in Europe, North Africa and North America. The fossils consist mainly of vertebrae and thorn-shaped, serrated teeth
This set consists of 57 teeth.
This jaw comes from an old French collection and carries a label with descriptions
