Sylvia Kellermann

Beautiful lithograph of Edgard Tytgat , who was born in Brussels on April 28, 1879 and died on January 10, 1957. He learned to draw in his father's lithography workshop. For a few years he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels where he befriended the painters Rik Wouters and Fernand Verhaegen. In 1907, he made his first woodcuts. He left Belgium for England during the World War I. After the armistice, he settled permanently in Woluwé-Saint-Lambert, where he worked all his life as a painter, engraver, aquafortist, xylographer and lithographer. He illustrated many literary works and also tales that he liked to write himself. Not belonging to any artistic movement, he is a solitary figure in Belgian painting.
