Background information:
Theo Kuijpers (Helmond, 1939) studied at the Academie voor Industriële Vormgeving in Eindhoven. After his studies he fulfilled his miltary service in Surinam from 1962 until 1963. When he came back in Brabant (NL) he processed his South-American impressions in his paintings. Nowadays he still works according to that method: Travelling (to Morocco, Australia, Italiy, France, Iceland and other countries); looking around and then reproducing in shape and colour the essence of the impressions that have stayed in the heart and head. At first he was a matter painter in the tradition of Tapiès. Work by Theo Kuijpers has been included in collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven and in many international private collections.
