Kinetic Perpetual is the proof of SEIKO's control of energy management.  Just like every Kinetic calibre, the kinetic arm and wrist movements of the wearer provide the watch with energy.  But the brilliant thing about Kinetic Perpetual is that the calibre puts itself in a "sleep mode" when the watch is not being worn.  During this time, it will remember the time and date for up to 4 years (taking into account leap years).  The watch "wakes up" as soon as it is picked up and automatically adjusts itself to the correct time and date.  A Kinetic Perpetual will be completely up to date until February 2100.
