I am offering for auction a superb oil on board by renowned Scottish artist Margaret Ross Hislop, (1894-1972). It is titled The Bird Cage. A beautiful painting. Dated 1943 verso with Scottish Society Of Women Artists label verso. 

Measurements. The painting measures 58 x 48 cm while the frame measures 66 x 56 cm approx. 

Condition. The painting is in very good order. The frame shows signs of wear. 

Margaret Hislop (née Grant) was born in West Calder and was trained at Westminster School of Art and at Edinburgh College of Art where she won her diploma in 1916. She exhibited many still lifes at the Royal Scottish Academy. She married the artist Andrew Healey Hislop and they travelled extensively together, to Canada, Ceylon, Egypt and India. Her work is represented at several galleries in Scotland and also further affield in Australia and America.
