Marguerite Hersberger attended the Basel School of Design from 1964 to 1966. She then lived in Paris for three years and worked in the internationally networked sculpture studio of François Stahly (Recherche de groupe). In 1970, she moved to Zurich, where she has worked in her own studio ever since. From 1981 to 1989, she was a member of the collections committee of the Zurich Art Society, Kunsthaus Zurich. From 1982 to 1994, she served on the cultural promotion commission of the Canton of Zurich. In 1989, she became a member of the board of the Zurich Art Society, Kunsthaus Zurich. Hersberger works in the media of painting, drawing, and photography. She creates reliefs, object art, installations, light art, and public art.
