Kajishozoku brandweeroutfit Firefighting Attire - Japan

During Japan's Edo period, as cities developed and fires became increasingly frequent, organized firefighting activities were institutionalized. The term “hikeshi” refers to the firefighting organizations and their members during the Edo period. These firefighting organizations were broadly divided into buke hikeishi(武家火消 samurai fire brigades) and machi hikeishi (町火消 townspeople fire brigades). Those directly engaged in firefighting operations primarily wore cotton sashiko-stitched double-layered garments as kaji shozoku(firefighting attire), while the garments worn by samurai for security duties during fires were more imposing and ornate. This haori was worn by the buke hikeshi, specifically by those responsible for command, supervision, and security within the firefighting organization. The family crest of the household to which they were appointed is displayed on the back. The material is cotton, with Japanese paper used for the lining. Size: Width, including sleeves: 130cm Length: 86cm Condition: The lining is missing, and there is damage in several places. Overall, it is in good condition. Please see pictures detail. NOTICE ・The lot will be carefully packaged and we may use recycled packages to reduce the environment and the cost as much as possible. ・Duties, taxes, VAT and any other import charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
