In Esoteric Buddhist belief, Dainichi Nyorai embodies the fundamental principle of the universe and the source of all existence. His hands form the Wisdom Fist Mudra, a symbolic gesture expressing the Buddha’s unshakable wisdom and universal compassion. The figure is crafted in brass and rests on a lotus pedestal beautifully adorned with petal carvings. Behind the figure rises a pierced mandorla featuring delicate floral arabesque motifs — a decorative design of intertwined vines and foliage symbolising the infinite continuity of life and enlightenment. The piece is housed in a wooden display box with two glass side windows and a glass front lid. Both the sculpture and the box show signs of age, including scuffs, small scratches, dust, and natural patina.
