Asahi, Pentax ES II Single lens reflex camera (SLR)

Vintage Asahi Pentax ES II black 35mm SLR camera with Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens (Working / Tested).

A classic Asahi Pentax ES II in black finish, paired with the legendary Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens (M42 screw mount). The ES II is the final and most refined Spotmatic-series body, featuring TTL aperture-priority auto exposure with an electronically controlled focal-plane shutter, and is the last Pentax SLR to use the M42 screw mount. The Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 is well known for its warm rendering and the characteristic amber tint of its thorium glass — a highly collectible vintage combination.

Appearance:
The camera body shows normal signs of age and use, including light scuffs and some paint wear / brassing on the edges, which is typical and often considered a desirable patina for a black-finish vintage SLR. The leatherette remains firmly attached and the overall appearance is good for its age. Please check the photos carefully for the exact cosmetic condition.

Function:
Tested and confirmed working. The shutter fires correctly.
35mm film SLR with TTL aperture-priority automatic exposure (AE), electronically controlled focal-plane shutter, film advance lever, shutter release, rewind crank, ASA / exposure compensation dial, self-timer, and standard M42 screw mount are all present and operational.

As this is a vintage item, long-term performance and full functionality across every speed and feature cannot be guaranteed. For guaranteed shooting condition, a service / CLA at a specialist is recommended.

Optical system:
The Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens is generally clean. No obvious fungus, haze, balsam separation, or major scratches are visible. The glass shows the typical warm amber tint often seen on this lens type, caused by the thorium element — a characteristic feature, not a defect. A small amount of fine dust may be present due to age, but nothing that affects photos.
