Traditional Bridal Belt (Ottoman / Balkan Belt) – Brass with Niello work (Savat), approx. 1890-1910 Authentic ethnographic collection piece, representing a traditional articulated belt for folk costume, specific to the Balkan and Anatolian space from the late Ottoman period (late 19th century - early 20th century). Complete composition: The ensemble is intact, consisting of 16 standard rectangular plates + the central trilobed buckle (paftaua), totaling 17 metal elements articulated by original hinges. Dimensions: The total length when fully extended is 87 cm. Material and technique: Brass (bronze) structure, hand-decorated by fine engraving and authentic inlay with black niello (savat), decoratively completed with red inserts. Rich and diversified iconography: Each oval medallion presents a different scene or symbol, alternating floral and geometric motifs with figurative elements of great narrative value: A traditional bird (peacock/nightingale) on a branch leafy - symbol of happiness, beauty and spring. Stylized monumental buildings (domed mosques, palaces or Ottoman citadels flanked by cypresses). Patriotic symbol of crossed Ottoman flags. Rare scene with human silhouettes (couple) under the Tree of Life. Technical details of authenticity: The buckle (paftaua) retains the external lugs from the factory, historically intended for attaching garlands of coins or decorative chains. The hidden "keyhole" type closure system on the end plates is complete and functional. Condition of conservation: Very good, structurally impeccable, without missing links or modern restorations. It presents a natural, authentic patina, which attests to the age and originality of the piece (it is strongly recommended not to chemically clean it so as not to affect the niello alloy
