Beschrijving van de verkoper
Roagna is one of Northern Italy’s most respected and traditional family-run wineries, deeply rooted in the historic Piedmont wine region—specifically Barbaresco and Barolo. The Roagna family was producing wine in Barbaresco long before the official classification of DOCG zones in the late 19th century; since then, the estate has become a benchmark for those seeking classic Nebbiolo wines that offer true expression of terroir. While Roagna’s history dates back to the 19th century, the modern era truly began in the 20th century when the family acquired historic vineyards such as Pajé, and later, plots in Castiglione Falletto (Pira). These plots, situated on soils rich in limestone and steeped in history, form the foundation of their distinctive, age-worthy wines. Today, Luca Roagna heads the estate, continuing the family tradition alongside his father, Alfredo. Representing the fifth generation, Luca took charge of the cellar around 2001, combining respect for tradition with a personal vision regarding vinification and terroir.
Description: The nose reveals a complex array of red fruit—such as cherry and raspberry—alongside classic Nebbiolo aromas of violets, rose petals, tobacco, and spices, sometimes accompanied by subtle notes of tar or earth. The structure is elegant yet layered, featuring vibrant acidity, fine, well-integrated tannins, and a long, precise finish with lingering notes of fruit, herbs, and minerals.
Pairs well with: Roasted ribeye with fries, rabbit or game birds in a herby sauce, leg of lamb with Mediterranean herbs, and semi-aged cheeses such as Fontina, Taleggio, or aged Pecorino.
