English Reclining Armchair – Leather, Brass and Wood – Circa 1940–1950
Distinctive English reclining armchair dating from the mid-20th century, approximately 1940–1950.
The armchair is upholstered in dark olive-brown leather and decorated with traditional brass nailhead trim. Its most characteristic feature is the external curved brass mechanism, which allows the backrest to be adjusted to different reclining positions. The chair stands on four wooden legs and has a removable seat cushion.
The leather has developed a rich and expressive natural patina, giving the armchair an authentic vintage character.
Condition:
The armchair is presented in its original, unrestored vintage condition. It shows pronounced signs of age and use, including uneven colouration, surface wear, scratches, creases, abrasions, small stains and marks throughout the leather. The wooden legs show scuffs and wear, while the brass elements display age-related oxidation and discolouration.
No damage or signs of wear have been concealed or digitally removed. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
No manufacturer’s label or maker’s mark has been identified.
