"Nessus" is a large-scale oil painting from Seppe Vanbelle's Blue Period, inspired by the mythological figure of the centaur Nessus from Greek mythology. The work depicts stylised, sculptural forms in a swirling, dynamic composition — muscle, drapery, and a face dissolve into flowing, marble-like structures, as if a classical sculpture is coming to life within a deep blue, almost submerged space.

The monochrome blue palette, characteristic of the series, heightens the sense of movement and transformation: it becomes unclear where the body ends and the surrounding chaos begins.
