ENGLISH:
French artist HeRsK (born Olivier Leynaud in Argenteuil, 1979) is a prominent figure in contemporary Urban and Pop Art. Emerging from the Paris graffiti scene of the 1990s, he developed a distinct three-dimensional visual language that merges raw street art aesthetics—such as tags, drips, and neon tones—with sculptural object art.
HeRsK gained international acclaim through his iconic "Something to Suck" series. The motif of the bitten, melting ice pop serves as a nostalgic canvas for childhood memories and a commentary on the fleeting nature of modern consumer culture. The wooden form acts as a scaled-down city wall, covered in layered graffiti overlays.
The present work, Something to Suck (#311) from 2020 (62 × 24 × 6 cm), exemplifies his signature style. Crafted from wood, acrylic, and spray paint, this unique piece from the Mini edition features vibrant neon pink and yellow with thick, dripping paint effects. The surface combines blue bubble lettering, intricate tags, and a yellow crown in homage to Jean-Michel Basquiat. Hand-signed, dated, and titled by the artist on the reverse (MINI Something TO Suck #311 / HeRsK / 2020).
The artwork was purchased in 2021 during an exhibition at TILSITT GALLERY in Porto, Portugal. It is in very good overall condition, with only a small paint loss of approx. 1 cm on the inside top of the yellow tip, which is not visible from the front. Shipping will be handled professionally and securely packed in bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box.
FRANCAISE:
