Kinga Makowka - The Weight of Now

There's a fleeting hush where yesterday’s echoes and tomorrow’s hopes fade into the background, leaving only the intense hush of the present.

“The Weight of Now” embodies that charged pause - an interval in which every breath, every heartbeat, carries more meaning than we typically allow. In this moment, the mind surrenders its restless search for what’s been or what might be, and instead feels the fullness of simply being.

It’s a tender yet powerful space where time stretches and emotions run deep, reminding us that sometimes the greatest burden and the greatest solace lie in the quiet acceptance of our own here and now.

Kinga Makowka is a Polish-born artist based in Yorkshire, whose work explores the emotional terrain between memory and presence, stillness and sensation.

She builds her paintings in delicate layers; soft pigments, textures, and details that seem to catch not just light, but time itself. Her pieces do not aim to capture a specific place, but rather a moment… a feeling.

Much of her work is rooted in personal reflection a search for meaning. Kinga invites the viewer into a deeply human space: one of emotion, nostalgia, and connection.

Her practice often draws from her own life - family rituals, nature walks, the chaos of ADHD, and the peace she seeks through it all. It is a cartography of the internal world, mapping feeling through form.
