A chance to own this very rare book created by La Gazzetta dello Sport which was given to participants of the 50th edition of the Giro d'Italia 1967.

This large perfect-bound coffee table book contains the complete history of each race, from the first edition in 1909 right up until the eve of the 50th race edition in 1967. 

Beautifully illustrated throughout, the book contains many archive images, along with all highlights and info from each race edition. Text is in Italian and the book measures 31cm x 31cm.

The book shows some wear with some warping on the latter pages, a few pages have also come loose from the binding towards the start of the book.

A Limited numbered edition (Number 294), this book was never for public sale. Instead only available when presented to all participants in the Giro of 1967 to celebrate its 50th race edition.

This item comes from the archives of Belgian Fernand Tuytens, whose career spanned racing as a pro cyclist for teams such as Libertas, Groene Leeuw and Flandria in the early 1960s, and then mechanic for teams such as Solo Superia, Romeo Smiths and for the Belgian National team at major races including the Giro d'Italia, Vuelta and Tour de France. 

He then spent his time as a race organiser and also the owner of the cycling shop 'Ferdi Sport' in Assenbroek, Bruges in the 1970s and 1980s.

I've secured a huge archive of his items, and once these have been sorted and documented they will also be coming up for sale here on Catawiki.
