Its rounded form, detailed weaving, and elegant twin side handles reflect the refined craftsmanship of Chikuhōsai II (Okazaki Tadanori). Okazaki Tadanori (born 1933 in Beppu, Oita Prefecture) studied bamboo craft under his father and later succeeded as the second-generation Chikuhōsai in 1971. He received numerous awards for his flower baskets, recognised for their precision, artistry, and balance between tradition and individuality. The basket comes with its original bamboo insert for holding flowers, ensuring both aesthetic display and practical use. The base bears the artist’s signature, while the original wooden storage box carries the handwritten title, signature, and seal of the artist. An additional biography leaflet is included, detailing the artist’s career and accomplishments.
