Ursa Major - Ruimtevaartstation SST 282 Ultra ZELDZAM & Verzamelbaar item! Analoge reverb

Ursa Major Space Station SST-282 — Vintage Digital Reverberator & Delay The Legend Reborn First launched in 1978, the Ursa Major Space Station SST-282 stands among the earliest generation of commercial digital reverbs. Developed by Christopher Moore’s Ursa Major company, it quickly gained cult status for its singular, immersive sound and advanced architecture. For decades, it has remained a rare and sought-after effects unit — a sonic “space station” in the truest sense. What Makes It Special Multitap delay + engineered reverb: Unlike conventional delay units of the era (often with one or two taps), the Space Station uses eight “Audition Delay” taps plus additional taps for reverberation synthesis. The topology can be thought of as a single delay buffer (≈ 255 ms) with multiple modulated feedback taps. Its reverberation decay is adjustable from zero up to ~3.5 seconds. Feedback stability via modulation: To avoid runaway resonances, the SST-282’s feedback taps are continuously “moved” slightly (time modulation), allowing for higher feedback gain before instability. Mixing & control: The unit offers a 9-input / stereo-output mixer (Audition taps + Direct signal), with individual mixing control for early vs late reflections. Shelving equalization onboard allows shaping of high/low decay (to simulate more absorptive rooms or limit brightness). 16 preset “Audition Delay Programs” are built in (e.g. Rooms, Combs, Delay Clusters, Space Repeats). Control features:  • Input Level control (with true peak LED meters: O / –6 / –15 / –30 dB)  • Direct / Reverb / Echo mix, feedback, echo delay time control, program selection, etc. Technical Highlights & Specs Parameter Value / Range Delay buffer length ~255 ms (serves as the time base for taps) Max reverb / decay time Up to ~3.5 seconds Audition taps 8 taps (for listening) Feedback taps (reverb synthesis) ~15 taps summed + modulated feedback Number of built-in programs 16 Audition Delay Programs Bandwidth / frequency cut Typically ~20 Hz up to ~7 kHz (reduced high-end bandwidth) Input / output design Analog front end + A/D and D/A converters internally (12-bit floating, proprietary) Power / form factor 3U rackmount “monster” unit in original hardware; internal power draw modest for the era. Why It Still Matters The Ursa Major SST-282 isn’t just a relic — it’s a creative tool. Its ability to combine echo, delayed ambience, early reflections, and reverberation in a single unit gives it flexibility unmatched by simpler delays or reverb boxes. The modulation-based feedback architecture leads to evolving, “alive” textures rather than static echoes. Moreover, its vintage character— the subtle artifacts, shifting resonances, and coloration — make it treasured by producers looking for that unmistakable “space-grit” reverb quality. As one seller notes: “Nothing out there sounds like an Ursa Major Space Station.” Because units are rare and original ones often require servicing, your chance to own or audition an SST-282 is an invitation into sonic history — and a pathway to uniquely expressive ambience . Please see detailed photographs for her condition as these form part of the sale of the item and her actual condition. Please note that vintage electronic items are not guaranteed. She has been tested and is sold as working. Please note that we will pack her with our custom double box and bubble wrap system and we pack for the safety of the item not for economy

Ursa Major Space Station SST-282 — Vintage Digital Reverberator & Delay

The Legend Reborn

First launched in 1978, the Ursa Major Space Station SST-282 stands among the earliest generation of commercial digital reverbs. Developed by Christopher Moore’s Ursa Major company, it quickly gained cult status for its singular, immersive sound and advanced architecture. For decades, it has remained a rare and sought-after effects unit — a sonic “space station” in the truest sense.

What Makes It Special

Multitap delay + engineered reverb: Unlike conventional delay units of the era (often with one or two taps), the Space Station uses eight “Audition Delay” taps plus additional taps for reverberation synthesis.

Control features:
 • Input Level control (with true peak LED meters: O / –6 / –15 / –30 dB)
 • Direct / Reverb / Echo mix, feedback, echo delay time control, program selection, etc.

Technical Highlights & Specs

Parameter Value / Range

Delay buffer length ~255 ms (serves as the time base for taps)
Max reverb / decay time Up to ~3.5 seconds
Audition taps 8 taps (for listening)
Feedback taps (reverb synthesis) ~15 taps summed + modulated feedback
Number of built-in programs 16 Audition Delay Programs
Bandwidth / frequency cut Typically ~20 Hz up to ~7 kHz (reduced high-end bandwidth)
Input / output design Analog front end + A/D and D/A converters internally (12-bit floating, proprietary)
Power / form factor 3U rackmount “monster” unit in original hardware; internal power draw modest for the era.
