This is a finely crafted Ko-omote Noh mask carved and signed by the respected artisan Nijo Kikuzuki, complete with its original wooden storage box (tomobako) bearing the inscription “能面 小面 二条掬月作” (“Noh Mask – Ko-omote – Made by Nijo Kikuzuki”). The Ko-omote mask represents the face of a young woman—pure, serene, and subtly expressive. It is one of the most iconic and widely appreciated masks in the classical Noh repertoire.
