Vaas - Brons, Koper - Japan - Takaoka bronze Hōun (峰雲) (Zonder minimumprijs)

This elegant bronze vase was created by Hōun (峰雲), a craftsman associated with Takaoka’s traditional metalworking studios. The surface features a deep, lacquer-like finish with a rare multicolored palette, blending blue, green, and red tones. Such vibrant coloration is uncommon among the artist’s works, which typically feature more uniform hues, making this example especially desirable. The design includes silver-inlaid cranes in flight and a gold-colored 16-petal chrysanthemum crest, both executed with remarkable clarity. It is particularly noteworthy that the gold and silver inlay remains fully intact with no losses or lifting, which is highly unusual for pieces of this age. Decorative metal inlay on similar vases often shows wear, so the pristine condition of these elements greatly enhances the value of this example. The chrysanthemum motif symbolizes dignity, longevity, and celebration, and is widely recognized today from its appearance on official Japanese documents such as passports. Cranes represent harmony, good fortune, and long life—together forming a richly auspicious decorative theme. ⸻ Included • Bronze vase by Hōun (峰雲作) • Original wooden tomobako with inscription and seal • Original internal wrapping ⸻ Dimensions • Height: 21.5 cm • Maximum width: 11.5 cm • Mouth diameter: 6 cm • Base diameter: approx. 6 cm • Weight: approx. 0.8 kg • Shipping weight: approx. 1 kg ⸻ Condition Excellent condition. The vase shows no cracks, chips, or structural damage, and the gold and silver inlay is in exceptionally well-preserved condition. The wooden box shows minor age-related marks. ⸻ Shipping Carefully packaged and shipped from Japan via Yamato Transport International or Japan Post, always with tracking. Combined shipping is not available for safety.
