Okimono van een paard - Zilverbrons - Japan - Taishō periode (1912-1926)
A silvered bronze okimono 置物 of a finely modelled horse.
The stallion stands square with its head slightly raised, its body rendered with smooth, natural contours. The mane falls short over an elaborately detailed saddle, complete with ornamented harness and stirrups. The tack is finely embellished with the aoi-mon 葵紋 (hollyhock crest) of the Tokugawa family.
Signed on the underside with a square seal cartouche and the characters 洋銀 (“silvergilt alloy”).
The overall style relates closely to the well-known work of the Maruki Company.
