Title Rare Small Japanese Tetsubin with Chinese Blue & White Nanking Ware Lid – Edo/Meiji – Original Box Description (English) A rare small-size Japanese iron kettle (tetsubin) paired with a Chinese blue & white Nanking ware porcelain lid. This compact form is significantly smaller than standard tetsubin, indicating a special purpose such as personal tea use, travel, or display within a tea room. Such small examples are seldom encountered on the market and highly desirable among collectors. The iron body shows an appealing rustic patina with wabi-sabi character, while the contrasting porcelain lid adds elegant refinement. The kettle comes with its original wooden box, whose lid is inscribed “Nanking-lid Choshi” (南京蓋銚子), confirming the set’s intended combination since early times — a strong point of authenticity and collectability. Condition: Age-related wear including rust, small dents, and surface irregularities. The porcelain lid has a visible hairline crack (please refer to photos). No signs of repair. Dimensions (approx.): • Diameter: 13 cm • Height: 12.5 cm • Weight: 107 g A charming and hard-to-find small tetsubin — ideal for collectors of unique tea utensils and mixed cultural pieces. Shipping Carefully packed and shipped with tracking. International delivery available. Provenance Japanese private collection. (Optional – You can include this if you want extra collector appeal) Mixed culture influence: Japanese tea tradition combined with late Qing blue & white export porcelain.
