Alc.: 15% Intense red, decidedly fruity, with notes of spice, tobacco, and coffee. The palate displays a rich structure characterized by substantial, gentle tannins. The finish is sweet and very long. Enjoyable immediately, it also lends itself to long aging. Produced only in great vintages, Excelsus is a Super Tuscan that perfectly integrates the best traditions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with the Montalcino terroir and the tradition of Castello Banfi. Castello Banfi's Toscana Rosso IGT Excelsus is an austere wine, of rare concentration and structure, whose maturation requires at least 20 months in barrique.
